Both secret shopping and work from home opps are considered self employment which require filing a schedule C at the end of the year.  The main difference between filing taxes as a sole proprietor vs. an employee is self employment tax.   I published an article, yesterday, on Helium to shed some light on self employment tax, and posted it on my site.  There is a link to the article.
